Company moves business away from Oshkosh

Oshkosh (WFRV) – Carter’s announced today that it will “substantially” reduce its business operations in Oshkosh by the end of 2009.

Carter’s Chief Executive officer, Michael Casey, says it’s making the reductions to “improve the efficiency and profitability of our Oshkosh business segments.”

The company says employees affected by the move will be eligible for severance packages .

Carter’s is the largest branded marketer of kids’ clothes in the United States.

Much of the business leaving Wisconsin will go to Atlanta, Georgia and Shelton Connecticut. Carter’s is headquartered in Atlanta.
