Manitowoc (WFRV)- Orion Energy Systems, headquartered in Manitowoc, unveiled their new 70,000 square foot facility on Earth Day to demonstrate the environmentally friendly nature of their technologies.

The company is a leading power technology enterprise that designs, manufactures and implements energy management systems.

Orion has created over 4,000 energy management systems across North America. Since 2001, the company has displaced over 423 megawatts of power and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 4.3 million tons.

President Barack Obama recently recognized Orion for its hand in reducing America’s dependence on foreign oil.

Governor Jim Doyle is also expected to speak at Orion’s tech center opening.

The company’s President and CEO Neal Verfuerth rang the opening bell at the Nasdaq stock exchange in New York. It’s only the second time a Wisconsin company has rung the bell.
