JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) -- Production of a new small General Motors car at Janesville is out, so what's next for the factory there?

That's the question that local officials will be considering when they meet to discuss options for the GM-owned plant and its four million square feet of space.

Janesville economic development director Douglas Venable says GM might still bring production back in 2011 if business improves, but city officials might encourage GM to sell so other businesses could move in and bring jobs.

GM ended production of sports utility vehicles at the plant last December and it shut down entirely this spring after some contract work was done. The plant had employed 1,200 people.

GM announced Friday it will produce its new small car at a Michigan plant.
