Even with weight loss, there can be trouble spots left behind. Now there's a new solution, easier on patients than liposuction. It's a laser lipo that offers little or no pain, and no recovery time. And it can melt away that maddening mound of fat in one session.
Sheila Hayes looks great in clothes, but she isn't crazy about one accessory - her 'muffin top,' "Over the years I've gone down a pant size even! It's still there, it's still there, you know!"

SlimLipo uses two laser wavelengths. Dr. Rothaus says the first one targets fat, "The 924 nanometer laser wavelength has a very high specificity for absorption by fat, so you're almost able to specifically target the fat with that wavelength, melt the fat."
Then he says, a second laser energy targets the skin, "We're targeting water 'cause we want to get the general heating for a skin contracture, and we're targeting hemoglobin 'cause we want to get hemostasis. We don't want a have a lot of bruising."
You can see immediate slimming, but the laser triggers changes that become more evident over time. "And I think I've been as impressed not only with the sculpting that I'm able to do in the fat, but with the changes in the patient's skin where we actually see later on, 3 to 6 months, we're seeing patient's skin tightening," says Dr. Rothaus.
Precisely the results Sheila hopes she'll see, "I want to be able to wear tighter fitting shirts, I want to be able to wear, like, a tighter fitting dress, and not have that bulge."
Dr. Rothaus says SlimLipo is not meant as a weight reduction tool, and isn't appropriate for patients who need to lose 30 or more pounds. The cost depends on where you live, and how many areas are treated, but expect it to start at $2,500 and go up from there.
