The weekly planting progress report shows that Wisconsin corn growers have been taking advantage of any window of opportunity they've had in getting in this year's corn crop.  As of Monday almost 2/3rds of the crop has now been planted, ahead of last year's pace and just about equal to the five year average.  Due to the cold, only about 14% of the crop has emerged.  For soybeans over 20% of the crop is now planted, a little behind the five year average, but equal to last year.

Looking at the alfalfa crop, scissor clippings and peak stick measurement have begun.  On average the height of the crop ranges from 15-18 inches, the crude protein level is between 23-27% and the relative feed value ranges from 285-245.  This is nearly 100 points above where harvest levels should be.
