Northeast Wisconsin is just across the water from Hilary’s home town of Detroit. She feels fortunate to report and web produce in an area with a rich history, a strong sports culture, and the Midwestern feel that she’s used to.

Hilary graduated from the George Washington University in DC with a degree in political science. She admits it…she’s a political junkie. Needless to say, she’s thrilled to be a journalist in the thick of such an exciting political year.

Before deciding to pursue journalism, she interned for a congressman, a federal judge and a political pundit. Hilary served as a student senator and was involved in a political action organization.  "Media is called the fourth estate for good reason," she says. In her opinion news and journalists are an integral part of the political process, so reporting didn’t seem like a path change.

It wasn’t until her senior year in college that she took a TV workshop class as an elective and fell in love with the process. "The best part about reporting is that you get to just listen. It’s a rare privilege to just stand back and listen to all kinds of perspectives. There aren’t too many jobs that allow you to be invited into people lives and just listen."

Before coming to Channel 5 News, Hilary interned with WDIV in Detroit, and High School HammerTime on Fox Sports Net Detroit. She got her first taste of reporting at HammerTime.

She says that when she found WFRV, it felt like home. As one of the newest additions to the staff, she can tell you "the people here really are great."

Hilary is a Detroit sports loyalist and a die-hard Piston fan, but says she’s ready to make some room in her heart for the Packers.

Hilary is looking forward to getting out into the community and meeting folks around town. "Feel free to drop me a line anytime with a comment, a good story idea or a hello," she says. "Thanks for welcoming me into your community… can’t wait to hear from you!"
