Born and raised in De Pere, Justin is thrilled to be forecasting the weather in his hometown, as well as co-anchoring Channel 5 First News Monday through Thursday, and Channel 5 Sunday Morning from 6-8am, and 10-11am every weekend.
In his younger years, he realized his passion for weather by being the child who instead of running to his parents during a thunderstorm, would have to be coaxed inside, away from it. His interest in weather grew through the years, and he later went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Valparaiso University. Through his college years, Justin was able to learn all about severe weather, in nature's biggest classroom... chasing storms throughout the Plains as a team leader with the university's official storm intercept team.
Justin has had the pleasure of interning with Tom Skilling at WGN in Chicago, as well as working as the morning meteorologist in Eau Claire at WEAU-TV. In 2009, Justin received the Broadcast Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society. He enjoys chasing down severe thunderstorms in the summer, forecasting blizzards in the winter, along with the occasional round of golf, or pick-up game of football. As you would expect, Justin is a huge Packers fan...and can be heard cheering loudly for them whenever a game is being played.
In 2006, he married his college sweetheart, Jamie, who ironically enough is a Chicago Bears fan… proving that true love really does conquer all. They now reside in the Green Bay area with their dog, Oliver, a golden retriever/daschund mix who has never lost a game of tug-o-war.
