FLINT, Mich. (AP) — The University of Michigan-Flint says it's responding to a shortage of physical therapists by increasing the number of students in its training program by 50 percent.
The university says it will accept 60 students into its doctor in physical therapy program in fall 2010, up from 40 this year.
The school says a 2008 American Physical Therapy Association report found vacancy rates for physical therapy jobs from 13 percent to 19 percent.
Students entering the three-year program need to have a bachelor's degree and meet other requirements.
