WARREN, Mich. (AP) — Police say an officer responding to a disturbance at a car wash in the Detroit suburb of Warren was slashed with a knife but is expected to recover.
Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer says the 8-year veteran was attacked Friday by a 20-year-old suspect armed with a butcher knife.
The officer was taken to a nearby hospital with a three-inch gash on the side of his head but Dwyer says his injuries aren't considered life-threatening.
Dwyer says the officer was attacked at a home near the car wash where the disturbance had been reported.
The suspect is in custody. Dwyer says charges including assault with intent to murder are pending.
