The Appleton East Patriots' run to the WIAA State Tournament ended Thursday night, with a 3-0 loss to Chippewa Falls in the Division 1 State Semifinals at Goodman Softball Diamond in Madison.

The contest was scoreless through 6 innings, as Patriot pitcher Beth Spoehr, who will attend the University of Maine beginning next year, continued her impressive scoreless inning streak.  Andie Bronstad led off the Top of the 7th inning for Chippewa Falls with a single, and eventually scored on a fielder's choice by Megan Schnobrich.  Chippewa Falls slugger Mikayla Hogan added a 2 run single later in the frame.

Falls pitcher Kendra Bowe tossed a four hit shutout, striking out four.  Chippewa Falls will face Stevens Point Saturday evening in the Division 1 Championship Game.

Appleton East finishes their season 25-5.
