GRAND CHUTE - Landon Tenhagen's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh sent Wilmot to a 4-3 win over Kimberly in the first WIAA Division 1 State Baseball quarterfinal game of the day at Fox Cities Stadium.

Tenhagen got things going early for Wilmot in the bottom of the first, with an RBI double off Kimberly ace Brad Schreiber.  A wild pitch later in the frame brought home Brendon Hayden, and the Papermakers were in an early 2-0 hole.

Kimberly got on the board in the top of the third when Mitch Weber drew a lead-off walk, moved to second on a Deven Hiroskey sacrifice and scored on an error on Wilmot pitcher Travus Sindles on a topper back to the mound by Papermaker senior leadoff hitter Jayme Wells. However, Wells suffered an ankle injury at first base on the play and was out for the rest of the game.

Wells' replacement, Luke Van Handel, came up big in the top of the fifth, with a RBI single, scoring Weber, tying the game at 2.

The Papermakers grabbed the lead in the top of the sixth, when Wilmot relief pitcher Justin Riechwein committed a throwing error following a comebacker by Weber.  Kevin Debruin scored, and Kimberly led 3-2.

Some baserunning errors actually helped score the tying run for Wilmot in the bottom of the sixth.  Tyler Thomas singled to left, then was eventually caught in a rundown between first and second.  He was eventually tagged for the final out of the inning, but not before Brandon Jones came home to make it a 3-3 game.

Kimberly pitcher Brad Schreiber retired the first two batters in the bottom of the seventh. But Joe Felgenhauer reached on an infield single and moved to second when Hayden dropped a single into left field. Tenhagen then laced a line drive over the head of left-fielder Tony Lamers for the game-winning walk-off hit.

The Papermakers finish their season with a 22-5 record.
