GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (AP) -- With runners at second and third in the bottom of the seventh, Ethan Miller struck out the next three batters as Marion held on to win its first state championship 6-5 over Chippewa Falls McDonell in WIAA Division 4 Thursday.
Miller relieved Cody Riemer in the fourth and fanned seven to earn the win.
Marion (27-2) scored all of its runs in the third on a triple by Riemer, doubles by Miller and Tyler Scohen, and singles by Sean Kallas, Eric Kroening and Justin Remminger.
McDonell (22-5) got a solo homer from Andy Davis, who had two hits, as did Robby Cooper and Jake Bohl.
