12-year old killed in ATV accident

RUMELY - According to police, a 12-year-old boy died Sunday following an all terrain vehicle accident near Rumely in Alger County.

The boy was operating the ATV on private property in Rock River Township when the accident occurred. Police said he lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over on top of him.

The boy was transported to Marquette General Hospital , and died as a result of the injury sustained in the crash.

The boy was not wearing a helmet and driver inexperience was a factor in the crash, police said. The incident remains under investigation, and the boy's identity has not yet been released.
