IRONWOOD, Mich. (AP) -- The Daily Globe of Ironwood in Michigan's Upper Peninsula has been sold to a Wyoming-based newspaper group.

The sale was announced Wednesday to Daily Globe employees. The newspaper had been owned by Janesville, Wis.-based Bliss Communications.

Bliss Communications President Sidney Bliss on Thursday didn't disclose terms of the sale to Stevenson Newspapers of Sheridan, Wyo.

Joe Karius remains publisher of the newspaper, which will operate as a subsidiary called Daily Globe Inc. Karius says it's positive that "someone is willing to invest in a newspaper given current economic times."

The newspaper has 27 full-time and 21 part-time employees and a circulation of 6,500.

Stevenson also owns or co-owns newspapers in Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, South Dakota and Nebraska.
