Auto defects
Product liability statutes protect the consumer from defects in products and some services, which are the result of design flaws, manufacturing flaws, or misleading product information.
Defective home products and appliances
According to product liability statutes, if an injury is caused by a product or appliance, the manufacturer and/or the retailer of the product can be held liable.
Drugs and pharmaceuticals
The manufacture and distribution of drugs and pharmaceuticals are strictly controlled by the federal government's Food and Drug Administration, or FDA (F-D-A).
Factory machinery and punch presses
If you're injured by factory machinery you may qualify to receive some form of workers' compensation. However, workers' comp won't provide you with anything more than compensation for your medical and other actual expenses, and it doesn't include any damages.
Lawn mowers and home power tools
Lawn mowers and power tools are potentially dangerous items of equipment, which, if used improperly or carelessly, can cause serious injuries. Manufacturers of such products are obliged to observe strict safety regulations in the design and manufacture of their products, and to include a reasonable number of safety devices and features in order to prevent accidental injury to a user.
Proving fault
In product liability cases, there are three main areas in which the manufacturer and/or seller of a product can be held liable: the product's design, it's manufacture, and the information surrounding or provided with the product.

'Product liability' is the term used for the responsibility of all parties involved in bringing a product to the marketplace for any damage caused by that product.
What to do if you have been injured by a defective product
If you've been injured by a product, you may be able to claim damages from the manufacturer or retailer if it can be proven that there was a defect in the product or that sufficient safety warnings were not provided.
