No criminal charges filed in fatal Hwy 41 trailer accident

The State Patrol says there will be no criminal charges against the driver of the truck whose trailer came unhooked and hit the car driven by 19-year old Whitney Radder.

The investigation showed that there was no criminal negligence on the part of James McDermid of Abrams.

McDermid said he felt a jolt when the trailer unhitched, and the safety chains held for 300 feet before they separated.

He says he tried to pull off the road, but the trailer flew off, hitting Radder and killing her instantly.
