Green Bay (WFRV)- An early morning fire has destroyed a dorm on the campus of UW-Green Bay.
According to fire department officials, the fire broke out just after 5am on Thursday morning. The unnamed dorm located at 3334 Walter Way, was one of the original dormitory buildings on campus.
Officials say the dorm was unoccupied at the time, which has allowed crews to take a more aggressive approach in putting it out, but Lt. Nick Craig said the heat is posing a challenge for the fire crews. He said there are ambulances on the scene keeping the crews hydrated.
13 firefighting units responded to the scene, and officials say it took nearly 70 minutes to have the blaze under control.
Fire officials from the city, county and state are investigating the cause of the fire.
