OSHKOSH (WFRV) -- Pilots Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and Wisconsinite Jeff Skiles became famous after the fateful US Airways flight last January that ended with a water landing in the Hudson River.
The two spoke to a full house at EAA AirVenture Friday.
Sullenberger and Skiles had never met before that January flight. Now Sullenberger jokes that they have spent so much time together that they’re becoming "an old married couple... finishing each other’s sentences."
Skiles, who lives just south of Madison in Oregon, Wisconsin, joked that he was the one who flew the plane into the flock of birds, so he would like a little credit for making Sullenberger a hero.
Skiles is the son of two pilots, and has been coming to AirVenture since he was a child. This was Sullenberger's first trip to EAA, and he said it felt like 'coming home.'
