WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WFRV) -- The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating two separate accidents in the northbound lanes of Highway 41 in Oshkosh, leaving one man dead.

The first accident occurred around 1:30pm at the intersection of Highways 41 and 21. A man was near the State Highway 21 intersection when he attempted to cross in front of a vehicle. According to the Winnebago County Sheriff's office, the driver swerved but could not avoid the man. The victim was transported to Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh where he was pronounced dead.

The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of family members. The Winnebago County Sheriff's office is leading the investigation into that accident.

Traffic on Highway 41 was backed up as police investigated that accident when a second accident occurred near the Hwy 41 and Hwy 44 interchange at approximately 2:03 pm.

The second crash occurred when a 1998 Honda motorcycle, driven by, Carla Thomas, 40, of Hartland, rear ended a 1996 Toyota Avalon, driven by John Miller, 66, of Racine.

Thomas was transported to the hospital by Theda Star helicopter for non-life threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the Avalon were not injured.

Hwy 41 northbound at Hwy 44 was shut down and diverted to the shoulder of the Hwy for a brief time while the motorcycle was removed. The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the second accident.
