Waushara County (WFRV) -- A 2 vehicle crash in Waushara this morning has claimed the life of an Oshkosh man.

98-year old David Kloiber was a passenger in a 2005 Ford Taurus on Highway 21 near the Town of Marion. Authorities believe the Taurus, driven by Debra Steinfort of Coloma, crossed the center line and struck a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck hauling a trailer.

Kloiber was pronounced dead at the scene, and Steinfort was transported via ThedaStar to Theda Clark Medical Center with unknown injuries. Police believe that neither occupant of the Taurus were properly wearing their seat belts.

The driver of the pickup, 60-year old Peter Gierach of Wautoma, was also taken via ThedaStar to Theda Clark with non-life threatening injuries. Two of Gierach's three passengers were taken to Berlin Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 21 near County Road Z was closed for five hours while authorities investigated the scene of the crash, and removed the large amount of debris in the roadway.

An autopsy is planned to determine Mr. Kloiber's cause of death.
