GREEN BAY (WFRV) -- Shopko announced this morning that it will be closing it's downtown Express store after opening less than a year ago.
The store at the corner of Dousman and Broadway opened last November, but the idea of serving the central-city did not seen to catch on.
"The traffic to this downtown location just never materialized," said Mike Bettiga, Shopko’s chief operating officer.
Losses at the store were called 'significant,' and the company cited issues with visibility, accessibility, and parking as factors in the store's closing.
The company announced they will close the store on November 1.
Employees at the downtown location will be transferred at other Shopko locations, and the building is being released back to the owner for possible redevelopment.
