MADISON, Wis. (AP) — State corrections officials have named a new warden for a northwestern Wisconsin prison.

Jeffrey Pugh will take over the prison in Stanley on Nov. 8. He has served as superintendent of the Oregon Correctional Center in Dane County since 2006.

Jackson Correctional Institution Warden Randy Hepp has been running the Stanley prison since April, when Warden Brad Hompe was reassigned to the deputy warden position at the Redgranite prison.

Hompe has said he was demoted because he ran a security drill without getting permission from the Corrections Department's central administration. Agency officials have insisted Hepp was reassigned, although a letter informing staff says they made the move after considering "factors related to management" at Stanley.
