Defending champion and top seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark breezed past Great Britain's Katie O'Brien, 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals at the $220,000 HP Japan Women's Open.

Wozniacki's next opponent will be sixth-seeded Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak, who beat Taiwanese qualifier Kai-Chen Chang, 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).

In one other early result Thursday, American Jill Craybas downed France's Mathilde Johansson, 2-6, 6-2, 6-0.

The final second-round singles match of the day will have third seed Samantha Stosur of Australia taking on Japan's Akiko Morigami. The winner of that match will play Craybas in the quarterfinals.

This week's winner will collect $37,000.
